Events/Intensity
Nova Sector Intensity Events
Not everyone dies in a blaze of glory.
Action-focused events do not forsake the concept of Roleplay.
Intensity events create different opportunities for character expression.
What is an Intensity Event?
An Intensity Event provides Mechanical Load and Threat to the Station.
An Intensity Event creates a Manpower and Resources Debt for the Crew to fulfill.
An Intensity Event interferes with peaceful station operations.
- Mechanical Load is defined as requiring interaction by Crew with mechanics to resolve the Threat.
- Threat is defined as perceivable danger or instability to the Crew or Station.
- Manpower is defined as the expected level of Crew involvement. Counts, Energy, and Time.
- Resources is defined as the material sum. Supplies, Machines, Tools.
- Debt is defined as total perceivable ‘cost’ to resume normal operations.
Why this type of Event?
Conflict is interesting. Violence is a fundamental part of life. Everyone must eat.
Through violence, players can show off their mechanical knowledge and skill.
The more amicable can display social aptitude by helping their coworkers navigate the crisis.
This will, inevitably, place people into a situation that they can talk about when the dust settles.
Intensity Events provide a shared trauma and experience for people to bond over.
