Events
Events Policy
Every episode of every show has a storyboard. Things do not happen without a reason.
Staff Event Policy
- All events are to be logged no matter the intensity.
- Well administered events are considered Staff Labor.
- Staff are encouraged to do events with a Buddy. Some Event Types and Scales require this.
- The Staff initiating the event are the Event Leaders, unless otherwise stated.
- You must inquire with the Event Leaders to add or modify content in their event. Issues regarding an event should be directed to the Event Leaders, or Staff Manager+
- An event should keep in mind the players participating, or being made to participate.
- Events targeting players, such as a CC Visit for a misbehaving Command member, should always be respectful to those being made to participate.
- Characters that are normally station crew should not suddenly be in extremely important positions or flip-flopping into roles that break suspension of disbelief.
- Trial Moderators are not permitted to run events.
Lore Team Obligations
0: The aim of these Obligations is not to restrict creativity, but instead to help create a cohesive and consistent setting for the server. If you want to break one of these rules for an event you’re welcome to reach out to the current lore head to discuss being given an exemption.
1: Avoid contradicting official lore as written on the wiki. It’s not expected that you’ll have all of our server’s lore memorized by heart so it may happen by accident but try and do your due diligence. For example, if running an event involving SolFed’s military try and be reasonably familiar with the contents of the related wiki page to ensure you don’t contradict any of it.
2: Try and keep the relations between different groups consistent with the setting in your events. Don’t have groups that are not enemies suddenly fighting in your event. If players from different factions that are not enemies end up organically coming to blows that’s fine.
3. You can introduce new groups and concepts! So long as you’re not introducing a new major power or concept it is fine to come up with corporations, pieces of technology, nations, species and so on. If it is tonally consistent with the rest of the setting and doesn’t contradict anything you should be good. Furthermore, if you come up with something you’d like to be added to the official canon you are welcome to reach out to the current lore head to potentially have it added to the wiki.
Event Scaling
There are two levels of events.
Large
These events affect the station at large. Will garner a large response from the station and will affect the ongoing round in a massive way. Will become a focus for the crew or the department. Large scale events need to be authorized by an administrator or higher.
Most Large events, such as Roleplay, Story, or Disaster, need to be announced before.
Small
These events do not affect the station at large. Affects a small group/faction and should not create waves for the station in the running of the round.
Off Station
It is generally accepted among Staff that running events for Ghost Roles or Off Station Z-Level players is more accessible for staff within our goals to provide entertainment.
Impact scaling considerations are adjusted for Off Station Events.
All Event Types have an Off Station Scaling modifier on their respective pages.
Weekly Event Frequency Guidelines
Tl;dr: Keep your finger on the pulse. Do not overstimulate the Community. Or your fellow Staff.
See Events/Types for disambiguation.
Story Events
Limit the number of Storylines currently active. Speak with fellow staff or SM+.
If you intend to start a Storyline, intend to complete it. Propose a Storyboard.
Roleplay Events
As long as these meet quality expectations, are not repetitive, and do not repeatedly consume the entire station’s attention for multiple shifts in a row, these may be run as often as feasible. Running RP Events is encouraged.
Intensity Events
Speak with an AEC / CIA / Admin+ before running one.
Disaster Events
Run at SM+ Discretion. Currently suggested at 1 per week, with alternating time zones.
Admin Events
Should be done in thorough moderation. See Event Logs and Rule 5.
