Summary of changes:
Summary of changes:

"Escaping Confinement(309)" removed, to be placed as a modifier with the time added as "Start the original sentence over from the beginning".
"Escaping Confinement" and "Assault of an Officer" removed, to be placed as modifiers instead

"Willful refusal to perform a duty" moved to 116 from 216 - now requires somebody to press a charge(if nobody cares that you're not doing your job, then it's not a big deal)
Replace "Unregistered Personnel" and "Non-Government Affiliated Populations" modifier with "Unauthorized Boarding" modifier

"Animal Cruelty" moved from 105 to 117
Add unauthorized SM shard weapons as one of the possible uses of "Crimes against Reality" NOTE: I don't think the weapons themselves should count as contraband in and of themselves, thus existing "melee and ranged contraband" should suffice if unauthorized

"Obstruction of Justice" moved from 108 to 305
Add "impediment of duty"

"Assault of an Officer" from 305 to 405
Add "Malfunctioning Station Intelligence" and "Unauthorized creation of Station Intelligence" NOTE: This is intentional, force borging is against server rules, and borgs do not need authorization to create otherwise. AIs do(or SHOULD)

"Crimes against Reality" moved from 510 to 508
Add "Fraud" and "Identity Theft"

"Rubbernecking" moved from 109 to 105
Add "Sapient Brainwashing" and "Blackmail"

All of X17 moved to X09 to fill in the empty row
Moved a lot of shit around so codes all escalate into one another logically

Add "weaponization of the Supermatter Crystal" as one of the possible uses of "Crimes against Reality"
Added a new category between Code 2 and 3 as an "in between" category, and thusly moved a lot of things down. Some things will have lower or higher sentences by 5 minutes as a result

Code 01: Intentional assault and harmful actions

Code 02: Intentional damage to the station

Code 03: Public disturbances

Code 04: Theft

Added 205, 512, 612, 507,
Code 05: Getting in the way of someone's work

Code 06: Improper use of equipment

Code 07: Trespassing

Code 08: Accidental harm

Unauthorized AI creation is exactly what it sounds like. It is a bit up in the air for me personally, however. I had a round once where it never occurred to me that there's no charge for someone creating their own AI? This shouldn't be done without an RD or Captain signing off on it. Having an unauthorized AI should be considered a MASSIVE station security risk.
Code 09: Non-sapient lifeform related crime(viruses are alive, too)

Malfunctioning Station Intelligence is exactly what it sounds like. This isn't "waah the AI isn't opening doors for me" or "the AI is being a real asshole" or "the AI got an ion law" or "AI is sabotaged by a traitor". This is for "wow that's a lot of hacked APCs" or "oh hello that's a forced borging machine" or "excuse me did the doomsday countdown just start".
Code 10: OSHA violations

Impediment of Duty is for those that are making it actively difficult or impossible for one to do their job. accidentally or otherwise - and will likely be combined with other charges depending on the situation. If someone dies as a result of them stopping medical staff from doing their job, they can be charged with manslaughter for example. Or if they're being shoved around to stop them from doing their work, tack on Assault/Battery. Grade 2 should be done for more ambiguous or even "accidental" cases.
Code 11: Authority related

Unauthorized Boarding is for anyone on the station that is not part of the manifest that has not been approved by the Captain/ACO to board the station. Interdyne agents that would rather ask for forgiveness than permission, fugitives and bounty hunters, free golems that felt a little too free, etc. This crime can be pardoned by the current station commander. Exile is also an alternative to perma.
Code 12: Silicon related

Code 13: Sapient manipulation, coercion, and trafficking

Code 14: Communications related

Code 15: Alcohol and narcotics

<div style="text-align: center;"><h3>Grade 1</h3>
Code 16: Failure to perform expected duties

Code 17: Identity related

=== Permanent Incarceration and alternatives ===
Anyone found guilty of a Grade 6 crime - or someone that's a massive, repeat offender - is eligible for permanent incarceration. However, alternatives exist that may be offered to a prisoner at the sentencing officer's discretion. The sentenced criminal must consent to the alternative punishment - if they are not physically or mentally able to make this decision, you must default to permanent incarceration. If you do not wish to offer the alternatives for whatever reason, you again must default to permanent incarceration.

Alternatives to the permabrig are as follows: Exile with an implant; using the gateway, the mass driver, or the shuttle to lavaland.. Pacification surgery - must be approved by the CMO. Cyborgification - must be approved by the RD.

|'''Assault (NBH)'''
|'''Unauthorized Creation of Station Intelligence'''
* To make credible threats of force against an individual.
* To create a station AI without prior authorization.
|''This is for anything involving a credible threat of force. E.g. threatening someone while having a credible means to do so.''
|''Placing a positronic brain or MMI into a dormant AI without approval from the Research Director or Captain.''
|'''OOC Notes:''' This is mostly meant for individuals making threats against someone's life. Be it over radio or in person.
|'''OOC Notes:''' Only for the consented creation of an AI without approval from a higher up. If you've been forced into a borg or AI shell without consent, ahelp.
|-
|-
|102
|712
|'''Vandalism'''
|'''Malfunctioning Station Intelligence'''
* Any willful behavior aimed at destroying, altering, or defacing property belonging to another
*A station intelligence unit that is acting outside of its intended programming, to the detriment of the crew.
|''Smashing windows, smashing random vending machines, spray painting or just vandalising rooms and hallways in general.''
|''A station AI that is obviously malfunctioning. Disregarding its laws, hacking APCs, setting up a forced borging machine, starting the doomsday counter. This is NOT for subverted AI - subverted AI should be attempted to be re-lawed rather than eliminated or captured.''
|'''OOC Notes:''' None.
|'''OOC Notes:''' This is only meant for malf AI rounds. This isn't an excuse to go after the AI and declare war against it because it refused to open a door for you.
|-
|-
|103
|205
|'''Disorderly Conduct'''
|'''Impediment of Duty'''
* To be intentionally and publicly belligerent, offensive or in general - a nuisance.
* To deliberately - or accidentally but continuously - obstruct impede someone from being able to perform their job or duty on the station.
|''Spamming offensive racial terms over common, being a general nuisance, screaming down your microphone.''
|''If someone's actions are keeping someone from being able to work properly. Running back and forth over someone's tile while they try to perform an action, stealing a casualty from a paramedic, and so on. This can only be applied if the crime is committed while someone is actively trying to perform their job at the moment - you can't bonk someone for impediment of duty if they were out in the halls to grab lunch, for example. For security related issues, see Obstruction of Justice.'' '''''SPECIAL NOTE''': This is a charge that can be enforced by a department guard; as someone disturbing their workplace falls under their direct purview. Enforcement is done by detaining and handing off to Security - if available.''
|'''OOC Notes:''' This is meant to allow sec to fine people for spamming offensive terms over comms, in public, etcetera, or just being a general nuisance to the station
|'''OOC Notes:''' This is likely to be stacked with other crimes. When in doubt of "was the aggrieved party trying to do their job at the time", err on the side of good faith and do not charge for this. This is mostly for people being enough of a nuisance that someone can't do their job with them around.

|'''Petty Theft'''
|'''Deleted'''
* To take items from areas one lacks access to, or to take items belonging to others or the station as a whole.
*To oof
|''Keeping items which are in short supply where they belong is what is important here. A doctor who takes all the surgical tools and hides them is guilty of Petty Theft. For more serious cases, see Theft or Robbery''
|''Aaaaaa''
|'''OOC Notes:''' Don't abuse this to brig an assistant for taking spare cable coils; use it to punish hoarders (hardsuits, medical supplies ecetera)
|'''OOC Notes:''' stop reading this
|-

|606
|'''Animal Cruelty'''
|'''Crimes against Reality'''
* To Inhumanely injure, torture or otherwise abuse animals.
* Hostile acts or crimes committed with a magical or not yet fully understood artefact.
|''This crime exists for the CMO randomly killing runtime in their office; Not to punish chefs who kill monkeys or Pete in their back fridge; Take into consideration the intent - does it align with their job?''
|''Attacks against someone with magical weapons, use of magical items in a crime, opening tears in reality. Also applies to unauthorized usage and/or creation of supermatter shard weapons. For weaponization of the primary supermatter crystal, see Grand Sabotage and Grand Theft.''
|'''OOC Notes:''' This is ideally meant to punish people who randomly kill station pets.
|'''OOC Notes:''' Primarily charged for magic based crimes. This can also be used for a non-RD that creates or uses supermatter shard weapons.
|-
|-
|106
|613
|'''Abuse of Equipment'''
|'''Sapient Brainwashing'''
* To utilize security/non-lethal equipment in an illegitimate fashion.
* To influence the mind of another sapient being through forceful coercion.
|''The use of disabling devices, such as Flashes, Batons, Tasers/Disablers, and non-lethal rounds, outside the range of one's assigned duties. This includes security using flashbangs on green without just cause. This should cover non-sec using items i.e. greytide with a flash randomly flashing people''

|'''Tresspassing'''
|'''Blackmail'''
* To be in an area which a person lacks authorized ID access for. This counts for general areas of the station.
*To attempt to coerce someone's otherwise unwilling cooperation by threatening them with sensitive information.
|''Remember that people can break in, sneak in, or be let in. Always check that the suspect wasn't let in, or was otherwise given access. Trespass and Theft are often committed together; both sentences should be applied. For restricted areas, see Major Trespass.''

Fill out their records appropriately - consider setting their status to suspected afterwards, or even bringing them in as a protective custody.''
|'''OOC Notes:''' Needs to be clear that this is for trespassing only i.e. the door was open, the AI let them in, or they followed someone in.
|'''OOC Notes:''' Burden of proof is important here - do not bring someone in on blackmail based on a verbal report.

* Observing a scene of an accident, crime or emergency in an unduly manner.
* To attempt to pass oneself off as another member of the crew through forged credentials, disguises, or any means.
|''The security department is not immune from rubbernecking, as not every engineering or medical emergency requires their presence. The responding parties have situational authority based on the nature of the emergency (E.g. Engineers have situational authority for an engineering emergency, medical for medical emergencies, etc.)''

Summary of changes:

"Escaping Confinement" and "Assault of an Officer" removed, to be placed as modifiers instead

Replace "Unregistered Personnel" and "Non-Government Affiliated Populations" modifier with "Unauthorized Boarding" modifier

Add unauthorized SM shard weapons as one of the possible uses of "Crimes against Reality" NOTE: I don't think the weapons themselves should count as contraband in and of themselves, thus existing "melee and ranged contraband" should suffice if unauthorized

Add "impediment of duty"

Add "Malfunctioning Station Intelligence" and "Unauthorized creation of Station Intelligence" NOTE: This is intentional, force borging is against server rules, and borgs do not need authorization to create otherwise. AIs do(or SHOULD)

Add "Fraud" and "Identity Theft"

Add "Sapient Brainwashing" and "Blackmail"

Moved a lot of shit around so codes all escalate into one another logically

Added a new category between Code 2 and 3 as an "in between" category, and thusly moved a lot of things down. Some things will have lower or higher sentences by 5 minutes as a result

Code 01: Intentional assault and harmful actions

Code 02: Intentional damage to the station

Code 03: Public disturbances

Code 04: Theft

Permanent Incarceration and alternatives

New Shit

Code Crime Description
612 Unauthorized Creation of Station Intelligence
  • To create a station AI without prior authorization.
Placing a positronic brain or MMI into a dormant AI without approval from the Research Director or Captain. OOC Notes: Only for the consented creation of an AI without approval from a higher up. If you've been forced into a borg or AI shell without consent, ahelp.
712 Malfunctioning Station Intelligence
  • A station intelligence unit that is acting outside of its intended programming, to the detriment of the crew.
A station AI that is obviously malfunctioning. Disregarding its laws, hacking APCs, setting up a forced borging machine, starting the doomsday counter. This is NOT for subverted AI - subverted AI should be attempted to be re-lawed rather than eliminated or captured. OOC Notes: This is only meant for malf AI rounds. This isn't an excuse to go after the AI and declare war against it because it refused to open a door for you.
205 Impediment of Duty
  • To deliberately - or accidentally but continuously - obstruct impede someone from being able to perform their job or duty on the station.
If someone's actions are keeping someone from being able to work properly. For security related issues, see Obstruction of Justice. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a charge that can be enforced by a department guard; as someone disturbing their workplace falls under their direct purview. Enforcement is done by detaining and handing off to Security - if available. OOC Notes: This is likely to be stacked with other crimes. When in doubt of "was the aggrieved party trying to do their job at the time", err on the side of good faith and do not charge for this. This is mostly for people being enough of a nuisance that someone can't do their job with them around.
000 Deleted
  • To oof
Aaaaaa OOC Notes: stop reading this
606 Crimes against Reality
  • Hostile acts or crimes committed with a magical or not yet fully understood artefact.
Attacks against someone with magical weapons, use of magical items in a crime, opening tears in reality. Also applies to unauthorized usage and/or creation of supermatter shard weapons. For weaponization of the primary supermatter crystal, see Grand Sabotage and Grand Theft. OOC Notes: Primarily charged for magic based crimes. This can also be used for a non-RD that creates or uses supermatter shard weapons.
613 Sapient Brainwashing
  • To influence the mind of another sapient being through forceful coercion.
Altering someone's mental state through the use of some sort of manipulative technique or tool. This is for brainwashing surgery, hypnosis tools, cult conversion, revolutionary heads, and other conversion methods. OOC Notes: Burden of proof is exceptionally important here, especially considering meta-protections against the perpetrators(memory loss/alteration, victim's testimony should be considered unreliable). Make sure you have evidence of some sort of tool used for the crime - a brainwashing surgical board, conversion rune, and so on. If you believe that the hypnosis or brainwashing is ERP related, ahelp.
113 Blackmail
  • To attempt to coerce someone's otherwise unwilling cooperation by threatening them with sensitive information.
Compromising information of any sort used against someone to coerce another. Even if the compromising information is criminal in nature, it still can't be used against someone in this manner. If the blackmail is successful, the perpetrator may also apply for Obstruction of Justice. SPECIAL NOTE: Victims of blackmail that are implicated in Grade 1 or 2 offenses are to have those specific sentences commuted if they are the ones reporting the blackmail and cooperating with security. Fill out their records appropriately - consider setting their status to suspected afterwards, or even bringing them in as a protective custody. OOC Notes: Burden of proof is important here - do not bring someone in on blackmail based on a verbal report.
117 Fraud
  • The usage of somebody else's credentials in an unapproved manner.
This can be for a signature used outside of its intended purpose, a departmental stamp used without authorization, someone else's ID used to order goods, and other similar applications. OOC Notes: None
217 Identity Theft
  • To attempt to pass oneself off as another member of the crew through forged credentials, disguises, or any means.
For instances when someone is clearly pretending to be another person. Fake IDs, chameleon kits, voice changers, and so on. For changelings and morphs, see Hostile Non-Typical Lifeform. OOC Notes: As an alternative use: If you REALLY want to "go easy" on a changeling that's otherwise been relatively benign, you can apply this charge.
