New page

== Weight of the Mantle ==

While many may think that being at the top of the food chain comes with a hero-like status, reality is a little different. As lawless as the Frontier may be, you still work for NT and being appointed a head of a department means that you need to keep your head on a swivel. They have access to incredible equipment, sometimes bested only by ERT squads. In other words, you are expensive and act as a key presence on the station.

Crew members as experienced and efficient they may be, need someone to hold the line in case the local [[Changeling]] has whipped most of their fellow co-workers. Nothing hits morale more than having your leader taken down the first ten minutes of combat. Furthermore, you are one of the links in the [[Chain of Command|chain of command]], if you go down, your department will be a huge uncoordinated blind spot for all the others attempting to keep the ship afloat.

All of this to say, a head of command should be the last member of a department to get directly involved in a dangerous altercation. Unless the situation calls for your direct presence on the field, your true strength is how well you coordinate with others while holding the fort, not by dying for it in glory. Remember:

* '''Stay calm.'''
* '''Be pragmatic.'''
* '''Work with your crew.'''
