			Ar-Ramal occupies a system tantalizingly close to the Shattered Empire, on the opposite side of Coalition space from SolFed (so, you know, also quite close to Akulas!). They are the newest of the border monarchies, having joined the Coalition less than half a century ago, and their integration is, to put it simply, still ongoing. The system is a desert world with two habitable moons, each ruled by a separate branch of the same royal house.

			Ar-Ramal was originally settled by an Arab-Levantine colonial expedition that crashed its ship and splintered into two survivor groups. Each group developed a distinct culture on their respective moon, and each was eventually unified under a leader who claimed descent from the original ship's captain. When the Coalition found them, they had already been in intermittent contact with Tajaran corsairs for decades and had developed their own elaborate protocols for dealing with the Houses.

			The Heliostatic Coalition is a parallel nation to SolFed, a union of various 300-year-old colonies from ''mainly''-Slavic cultures from SolFed who were cut off by bad logistics, and only in the past 70 years did SolFed regain contact. Until then, the colonies struggled, as they were equipped to build starter factories for a second wave of colonists to build off of, and then the second wave never came. Many starved, and the HC colonies struggled, and then they united and worked past the adversity. Now that they've met SolFed again, they see that over the 200 years, SolFed has ''rotten'' from corruption and ''buckled'' under the weight of juggling 10,000ish members. The HC thusly holds a better claim to the original ideals of SolFed than actual SolFed does, and that's another source of friction between the two. Thus, the HC refused to properly rejoin SolFed, but is willing to work as decent neighbors. The Heliostatic Coalition is relatively near the Nova Sector, so the occasional [[Lore:EPF\|Expeditionary Patrol ship]] will stop by Nova to check it out.
